Hitting the streets with the Unagi Model One (E500), I was immediately drawn to its target audience: urban commuters and tech-savvy individuals looking for a reliable, stylish, and portable mode of transportation. With my enthusiasm for electric scooters, I found the Unagi to address this market splendidly with its compact design and punchy performance. However, those who prioritize longer range or are on the heavier side might not find it as perfect due to the battery limitations.

Design and Build Quality:

Right out of the box, assembling the Model One was a breeze—just four screws and I was ready to roll. Its design is modern and refined, exuding a sense of sophistication that caught many an admiring glance. Crafted from premium materials, its frame felt both durable and lightweight under my hands. What's more, at just 12 kg, carrying it up stairs or onto public transport never wore me down.

Overall Performance:

Commuting across the cityscape turned into pure joy aboard the Model One. Zipping through tight spaces at a brisk 32 kph top speed made my daily rides not just efficient but exhilarating. For fun riding sessions, the scooter's acceleration didn't disappoint either—it picked up pace swiftly when prompted. Hills posed some challenge; however, it managed them decently enough. Braking was responsive which gave me confidence in stop-and-go scenarios, though I did notice a dip in distance capacity especially when pushing the scooter to its limits.

The Motors & Battery:

Dual 500w motors provided ample power for swift urban jaunts. While they handled flat terrains like a champ, steep inclines tested their limits somewhat—still, they performed admirably overall. Regarding the battery, while I couldn't quite reach the advertised 25 km range—especially as a heavier rider—the average use on level ground came close enough to not be a dealbreaker. Recharge times were reasonable and kept me on the move without much downtime.

The Wheels & Braking:

Solid tires meant no flats—a huge plus—but also translated to feeling every jolt and bump on less-than-smooth roads. The regenerative braking system added a layer of safety and efficiency by recharging the battery slightly during use. Although effective in halting progress quickly, it didn’t quite match up to traditional disc brakes in terms of stopping power.

Overall Handling:

Navigating through various environments revealed how nimble and agile this scooter truly is. Whether gliding over pavement or weaving through crowded sidewalks, handling remained precise and comfortable for short to medium distances. The absence of suspension was noticeable on rougher terrains but acceptable given the urban-focused design.

Maintenance and Repair:

Thankfully, maintenance proved minimal during my test week—just regular cleaning and tightening checks sufficed. When reaching out about potential issues, customer service was impressive; solutions were promptly offered which speaks volumes about Unagi’s commitment to their riders' satisfaction.

Additional Features:

LED lights front and rear ensured visibility during night rides—a thoughtful touch that integrated seamlessly into my evening commutes. While additional features such as remote control or electric gauges weren't present on this model, simplicity seemed to be part of Unagi's design ethos here.
