Editor's Note

Zooming around town with my feet planted firmly on the spacious deck of this workhorse reminded me why sometimes simpler is better—fewer things to break down or malfunction means more time enjoying the ride. Sure, I missed some high-tech perks at times but not once did my smile wane while coasting down streets on this fun-filled scooter.

Product Overview

Rolling through the city on a Razor e300 feels like freedom, pure and simple. Designed for fun-loving thrill-seekers and urban adventurers, this electric scooter is geared towards teens and adults looking for a quick zip around the block or a fun trip to the local park. The simplicity of its operation makes it an excellent choice for those new to e-scooters or those prioritizing leisurely rides over tech-heavy features.

Design and Build Quality:

Upon unboxing, the Razor e300 immediately impresses with its robust frame and high-quality materials. Assembly is straightforward; even novices will have it ready to go in no time. Everyday handling reveals thoughtful design touches—the deck provides ample foot space, contributing to a comfortable ride. Pneumatic tires contribute to this feeling of solidity, though inflating the rear tire requires some finesse due to its challenging valve position.

Overall Performance:

Out on the open road, the e300 doesn't disappoint. Zipping along at speeds up to 24 kph is exhilarating, and while it won't break any speed records, it's perfectly paced for its intended audience. During hill climbs, there's a noticeable dip in velocity—gravity always has its say—but the scooter compensates with extra zip on the way down. Braking is reliable, thanks to the hand brake that engages the rear wheel efficiently.

The Motors & Battery:

With a 250w motor beneath its belt, the e300 has enough oomph for everyday escapades but won't be winning drag races any time soon. The battery life generally hovers around the claimed 16 km range; however, performance can waver based on rider weight and terrain. Full recharge takes patience at 12 hours, so planning ahead is crucial.

The Wheels & Braking:

Those big pneumatic tires are more than just tough—they provide a smooth ride over bumps and cracks that would rattle lesser scooters. However, riders should remain vigilant; without any suspension system, you'll feel rougher paths more than you'd like. Hand brakes are responsive but do require an initial period of getting used to, especially when it comes to distributing your weight during stops for maximum effectiveness.

Overall Handling:

Whether cruising along riverside paths or navigating neighborhood sidewalks, handling remains poised and assured. Despite lacking fancy suspension systems found on pricier models, comfort isn't significantly compromised thanks to those air-filled tires which absorb much of the shock from uneven surfaces.

Maintenance and Repair:

Throughout my week of testing, maintenance was minimal—a good thing as Razor's customer service can be hit-or-miss based on experiences during part replacements. Luckily, most maintenance can be handled at home with basic tools.

Additional Features:

In terms of extras—there aren't many bells and whistles here. No lights or advanced braking systems mean this scooter keeps things basic which fits perfectly within its uncomplicated ethos.

Rating:

Given all factors—from build quality and ease of use to battery life—I rate this a solid 7/10.

The Razor E300 has been designed with teenager and adults in mind. Typically, I would say that this is more of an option for teenagers given it’s design, but after all, that is down to personal preference. If you want a scooter that you leisurely ride around the neighborhood, to the store or through the park then the Razor E300 is a good option for you. If you are looking for an electric scooter that you’ll be able to use to commute, the E300 is not the one for you. Instead, check out my list of the best electric scooters for commuting.

The Razor E300 simply fails to perform at the same level as the other products we tested. For example, it has an extremely short travel radius and a prolonged charging time. Moreover, the scooter does not so much as hint at the needs of the commuter oriented customer. Overall we were less than impressed with this well-known brand's electric scooter.

The E300 is definitely value for money, but only if you know what you’re getting. This is a heavy-duty scooter built for short bursts of fun and designed for kids. It’s not a fashionable scooter or one built for everyday riding on city streets. It’s not portable either and weight can be a problem. So why buy it? The bottom line is that it’s a great low-cost introduction to the world of electric scooters.

However, if you are looking for a fast scooter, and you only want to be able to travel short distances or have a cheap, fun alternative to a regular skateboard or rollerblades, this will probably check all your boxes. There’s really nothing special about the Razor E300 as a budget scooter, but it’s truly a budget scooter and great for teens and kids not looking for anything more than a fun way to get around.
